This paper reviews the research progress and development of aluminate long afterglow luminescent materials in the field of road marking, especially the study of rare earth ion-activated strontium aluminate (SrAl2O4: Eu2+, Dy3+)-based long afterglow powders. This article begins by describing the importance of road markings and the need to improve their visibility and durability at night and in adverse weather conditions. Subsequently, the current passive and active methods for improving the visibility of marking materials are discussed in detail, focusing on the advantages of aluminate long afterglow materials and challenges related to their hydrolysis and thermal stability. Through the application of organic–inorganic composite coating technology, the water resistance and thermal stability of the materials can be improved, thus enhancing the performance of road markings. This article also summarizes the current research status of different types of long afterglow road marking coatings. It analyzes the luminescence mechanism of aluminate long afterglow materials. Additionally, this article discusses future research directions and application prospects. The aim is to provide technical references and support for the wide application of long afterglow self-luminous road marking coatings.

Pavement cracking is a primary cause of early damage in asphalt pavements, and fiber-reinforcement technology is an effective method for enhancing the anti-cracking performance of pavement mixtures. However, due to the multi-scale dispersed structure of pavement mixtures, it is challenging to address cracking and damage with a single fiber type or fibers of the same scale. To investigate the toughening mechanisms and damage behavior of hybrid-fiber-modified mixtures, we analyzed the fracture process and damage behavior of these mixtures using a combination of basalt fiber and calcium sulfate whisker hybrid fiber modification, along with semicircular bending tests. Additionally, digital imaging was employed to examine the fracture interface characteristics, revealing the toughening mechanisms at play. The results demonstrated that basalt fibers effectively broaden the toughness range of the modified mixture at the same temperature, reduce mixture stiffness, increase residual load at the same displacement, and improve crack resistance in the mixture matrix. While calcium sulfate whiskers enhanced the peak load of the mixture, their high stiffness modulus was found to be detrimental to the mixture’s crack toughness. The fracture interface analysis indicated that the three-dimensionally distributed fibers form a spatial network within the mixture, restricting the relative movement of cement and aggregate, delaying crack propagation, and significantly improving the overall crack resistance of the mixture.

Foamed asphalt cold recycled mixtures can provide an effective approach for the reutilization of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP), but conventional asphalt foaming technology primarily exploits matrix asphalt as the raw material. To address this issue, this study explores rubberized asphalt with cold recycling technology to develop a foamed rubber asphalt cold recycled mixture (FRCM). The semi-circular bending (SCB) test was employed to investigate its cracking resistance. Load–crack mouth opening displacement (CMOD)–time curves under various temperatures were analyzed, and digital image technique was resorted to monitor crack propagation and growth rates. Fracture toughness, fracture energy, and flexibility index were compared with those of traditional foamed matrix asphalt cold recycled mixture (FMCM). The results show that, under the same test temperature, the FRCM exhibits slower crack propagation; larger peak load; and higher fracture toughness, fracture energy, and flexibility index in comparison with the FMCM. These improvements are more pronounced at low temperatures. For both mixtures, fracture toughness and fracture energy are decreased with increasing the temperature, while the flexibility index shows the opposite trend. The rigid zone accounts for a larger portion of fracture energy at low temperatures. The findings provide technical references for improving the cracking resistance of cold recycled asphalt layers using rubberized asphalt.

To reduce the production cost of ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC), this study incorporated polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fibers and coarse aggregates (CA) to develop a novel UHPC with both excellent performance and reduced cost. A two-stage mortar-concrete design approach was employed to optimize the UHPC mix proportion. First, the mortar matrix was preliminarily optimized based on particle packing theory, and its strength development mechanism was analyzed. Subsequently, response surface methodology was applied to systematically investigate the effects of PAN fiber content, CA content, and superplasticizer (SP) dosage on the slump flow, compressive strength, flexural strength, indirect tensile strength, freeze–thaw resistance, and dynamic mechanical properties of UHPC. The entropy weight method was then adopted to determine the optimal mix proportion, followed by cost estimation. The results indicate that the optimal mortar matrix composition consists of 61.4% cement, 15% silica fume, and 23.6% fly ash, achieving a flow spread of 246 mm, a compressive strength of 117.2 MPa, and a flexural strength of 24.9 MPa. When the PAN fiber content, CA content, and SP dosage were 0.5%, 20%, and 3.8%, respectively, the prepared PAN-CA UHPC(PCUHPC) exhibited the best overall performance. Compared with conventional UHPC, the material cost was reduced by 81.7%, and the compressive strength-normalized cost decreased by 75.4%. The UHPC developed in this study, characterized by outstanding performance and significant cost advantages, provides a feasible solution and theoretical support for broader engineering applications.

Aging has a significant influence on the rheological behavior and service performance of asphalt binders. In this study, base asphalt binder (BAB) and rubberized asphalt binder (RAB) with different aging levels were investigated to clarify their aging evolution and performance correlations. Rheological tests were conducted to evaluate high-temperature rutting resistance, intermediate-temperature fatigue performance, and low-temperature cracking resistance. The 2S2P1D viscoelastic model was used to analyze the evolution of viscoelastic parameters, while gel permeation chromatography (GPC) was adopted to characterize molecular weight changes during aging. The results showed that aging increased the rutting resistance of both binders, but reduced fatigue performance and low-temperature cracking resistance. Among the 2S2P1D viscoelastic model parameters, G∞, δ, and β were more sensitive to aging than the other parameters and exhibited relatively clear variation trends. Selected viscoelastic parameters also showed significant correlations with rheological performance indices. GPC results indicated that both binder systems progressively evolved toward higher molecular weight during aging, with the molecular weight distribution curves shifting toward the high-molecular-weight region. For RAB, Mw was more sensitive to aging than Mn and showed some fluctuation at intermediate aging stages, reflecting a more complex molecular evolution. Overall, the results indicate that selected 2S2P1D viscoelastic parameters can serve as sensitive indicators of aging evolution and provide a useful basis for interpreting the performance correlations and rheological changes of asphalt binders from a viscoelastic perspective.

Against the backdrop of the global aviation industry’s commitment to achieving the “Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050” goal, the issue of superimposed peak loads on distribution networks—arising from the large-scale transition from fossil-fueled to electric Ground Service Equipment (GSE) at civil airports—has become increasingly prominent, emerging as a critical constraint on green airport development. Focusing on the high-value airside area, this paper presents the first systematic review of how Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology can transform electric Ground Service Equipment (e-GSE) from mere “charging loads” into “dispatchable energy storage resources.” The study proposes that, through bidirectional DC charging/discharging and intelligent aggregation technologies, e-GSE fleets operating on predictable schedules can be integrated as flexible regulation units within airport microgrids. To realize this pathway, the study comprehensively examines the core technological framework, encompassing wide-power-range bidirectional charging infrastructure, grid-forming power conversion topologies, standardized communication and grid interconnection interfaces, flight-schedule-based potential assessment and dispatch algorithms, and photovoltaic storage–charging hybrid system integration schemes. The review demonstrates that this technology can not only enhance grid resilience and promote renewable energy accommodation through peak shaving, valley filling, and ancillary services but also yields significant economic benefits. Finally, the study identifies the technical, standardization, and business model barriers hindering large-scale deployment, thereby providing a theoretical reference and a technology roadmap for the energy system planning and construction of future “zero-carbon smart airports”.
