This review paper presents a detailed analysis of the influence of high-velocity oxygen–fuel (HVOF) spraying parameters on the microstructure formation and performance characteristics of Cr3C2-NiCr coatings. Key HVOF parameters, including the spray distance, oxygen-to-fuel ratio, powder feed rate, and spraying temperature, are examined in relation to their impact on coating properties. Structural parameters such as density, porosity, adhesive strength, and microhardness, which determine the mechanical behavior of the coating, are analyzed. Special attention is paid to wear resistance mechanisms, adhesion to the substrate, and resistance to fatigue failure. Additionally, the thermal stability of the coatings, their coefficient of thermal expansion, and oxidation resistance are investigated. This study also evaluates the morphology and phase composition of the coatings under different HVOF spraying conditions. An overview of modern diagnostic techniques, such as electron microscopy and spectroscopy, is provided. Compared to traditional surface treatment methods, HVOF spraying offers superior coating density, higher adhesion strength, and enhanced wear and corrosion resistance, making it an effective solution for extending the service life of components. Based on the findings, this paper highlights promising applications of Cr3C2-NiCr coatings in the aviation, power engineering, and mechanical engineering industries, where high wear resistance and thermal stability are crucial.

Due to the depletion of hydrocarbon resources worldwide, intensive research is being conducted to identify alternative energy carriers. Hydrogen has emerged as a promising candidate due to its high energy density and environmentally friendly nature. However, large-scale implementation of hydrogen energy is hindered by the lack of safe, efficient, and cost-effective storage methods. Among the various materials studied for solid-state hydrogen storage, boron nitride (BN)-based compounds have attracted significant attention owing to their high thermal stability, tunable morphology, and potential for physisorption-based storage. This review focuses on recent advances in the synthesis, functionalization, and structural optimization of BN-based materials, including nanotubes, nanosheets, porous frameworks, and chemically modified BN. Although other boron-containing hydrides such as LiBH4, Mg(BH4)2, and closo-borates are briefly mentioned for comparison, the primary emphasis is placed on BN-related systems. This paper discusses various modification strategies aimed at enhancing hydrogen uptake and reversibility, offering insights into the future potential of BN-based materials in hydrogen storage technologies.

Quasicrystalline coatings based on Al65Cu20Fe15 are of increasing interest as potential alternatives to conventional wear-resistant materials due to their unique structural and tribological properties. This study explores the influence of air pressure during high-velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) spraying on the phase composition, morphology, and wear behavior of Al65Cu20Fe15 coatings deposited on U8G tool steel. Coatings were applied at a fixed spraying distance of 350 mm using three air pressures (1.9, 2.1, and 2.3 bar), with constant propane (2.0 bar) and oxygen (2.1 bar) supply. X-ray diffraction analysis identified the formation of Al78Cu48Fe14 and Al0.5Fe1.5 phases, while scanning electron microscopy revealed a dense, uniform microstructure with low porosity and homogeneous element distribution across all samples. Tribological testing using the ball-on-disk method showed wear track widths ranging from 853.47 to 952.50 µm, depending on the air pressure applied. These findings demonstrate that fine-tuning the air pressure during HVOF spraying significantly influences the structural characteristics and wear resistance of the resulting quasicrystalline coatings, highlighting their promise for advanced surface engineering applications.

This article presents a review of current research on the use of molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) and its composites as promising materials for energy storage systems and functional coatings. Various MoS2 morphologies, including nanoflowers, nanoplatelets, and nanorods, are considered, as well as their effects on electrochemical properties and specific capacity. Particular attention is paid to strategies for modifying MoS2 using carbon nanomaterials (graphene, carbon nanotubes, porous carbon) and conductive polymers, which improve electrical conductivity, structural stability, and durability of electrodes. The important role of chemical vapor deposition (CVD), which allows the formation of uniform coatings with high purity, controlled thickness, and improved performance characteristics, is noted. A comparative analysis of advances in the application of MoS2 in sodium-ion batteries, supercapacitors, and microwave absorbers is provided. It has been shown that the synergy of MoS2 with carbon and polymer components, as well as the use of advanced deposition technologies, including CVD, opens new prospects for the development of low-cost, stable, and highly efficient energy storage devices.

Hydrogen is widely regarded as a key energy carrier of the future; however, its efficient and safe storage remains one of the central scientific and technological challenges. This article systematizes contemporary approaches to hydrogen storage, with a particular emphasis on solid-state materials as the most promising direction. The main storage technologies—compressed, liquid, and solid hydrogen—are reviewed, and there is an analysis of their advantages and limitations. Special attention is given to the fundamental aspects of solid-state hydrogen storage, including the thermodynamics and kinetics of hydrogen absorption and desorption processes. A comparative analysis of various material classes is presented, including intermetallic metal hydrides based on AB5-type and AB2-type compositions, magnesium-based systems, palladium-modified structures, as well as complex hydrides (alanates, borohydrides, and amide–imide systems). The role of nanostructuring and carbon-based nanomaterials in enhancing storage capacity and improving kinetics is also examined. Key challenges are discussed, including high desorption temperatures, slow kinetics, and material degradation. Modern strategies for performance enhancement, such as catalytic activation, alloying, and nanostructuring, are highlighted.

In this paper, the theoretical research of Cr3C2-NiCr coating for zirconia substrate is discussed. To obtain this coating, one of the multi-efficiency methods high velocity oxygen-fuel thermal spraying (HVOF) was investigated. The coatings were processed by different thicknesses of zirconia substrate sample of 3–5 mm also with length of 20 mm and width of 30 mm, at spraying speed of 600–700 m/s. The temperature during HVOF spraying is about 3000 ºC and the cooling temperature is 27 ºC. Investigating the theoretical data of Cr3C2-NiCr coatings, the development and thermal stresses after HVOF treatment were determined using Stone's method and Brenner-Senderoff equations with a coating thickness not exceeding 0.6 mm for carbide coatings. According to the results of theoretical research, the deposition efficiency values were found by the method proposed by Kosaku Shinoda. According to the theoretical and mathematical calculations, the deposition efficiency for Cr3C2-NiCr coating with zirconia substrate is in the range of 59.5%–69.4%. Thus, it was found that the deposition efficiency for the coatings depends on the thickness of the substrate, the powder feed rate, and the mass of the applied material and consequently the number of spraying passes.
