With the development of sustainable technology and the continuous innovation of people’s travel styles, smart tourism technology (STT) is widely used in various tourism fields. STT has changed the traditional travel experience while enhancing destination competitiveness. This study examines the relationships between perceived STT experience, travel experience, and revisit intention. A total of 312 valid questionnaires were collected from tourists who had the experience of using local STT in Macau. A structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to test the proposed model, and the results showed that perceived STT experience had a significant influence on the travel experience, and travel experience had a significant influence on revisit intention. The results of the research have provided valuable information for managers who are concerned about the development of STT. In addition, when designing and developing STT websites or programs, it provides effective references and suggestions for merchants or related developers of tourism destinations to formulate scientific strategies to deal with market competition, thereby enhancing the destination’s own competitiveness.

The rapid advancement of smart tourism technology brings new opportunities for tourism development. More travel destinations are relying on smart technology to attract more tourists to visit and enrich their travel experience. The main purpose of this study was to explore whether tourists are satisfied with their smart tourism technology experience (i.e., informativeness, accessibility, interactivity, personalization, and security). This study also investigated the impact of smart tourism technology experience on tourists’ happiness and revisit intention. This study used a structural equation method to find the relationship among smart tourism technology attributes, travel satisfaction, happiness, and revisit intention. Surveys of a total of 527 participants who traveled to Macau from Mainland China were used for the analysis. The results showed that accessibility is the most important factor affecting the smart tourism technology experience and personalization the least. Smart tourism technology experience is shown to be significantly associated with travel experience satisfaction, and travel experience satisfaction has a positive effect on both tourists’ happiness and revisit intention. Finally, tourist happiness is also shown to be positively associated with revisit intention. This study provides theoretical and practical significance for the development of smart tourism in the future.

This study examined how demographic information, chronological age, older adults’ physical and mental health, and basic psychological needs affected travel intention. The survey samples were collected from 577 adults, all over 60 years of age. A hierarchical multiple regression analysis was used to test the proposed hypotheses. First, demographic information with chronological age was used for primary analysis. The outcome indicated that chronological age was negatively associated with travel intention while all other demographic variables were not. Secondly, when physical and mental health condition variables were added, physical health positively affected travel intention while chronological age still negatively affected travel intention. Thirdly, psychological needs (autonomy, competence, relatedness) for travel were included in the final analysis. The outcome showed that all psychological needs variables had a significant impact on travel intention for those with a physical health condition. However, chronological age was not a significant factor in travel intention during this analysis. This study shows that chronological age is not always an important factor that affects older adults’ travel intention when other health and psychological variables are considered. This study provides some practical implications and tips for travel industry managers who are targeting the aging population.

The Internet has not only gained wide-spread popularity; it has gradually become a necessity of modern life. In addition, the popularity of mobile devices has changed tourists’ travel habits; numerous travel activities can now be accessed through smartphone applications. As a result, Internet access has become a key requirement for tourism. Therefore, understanding the relationship between the availability of Internet access at a given tourist destination and the overall satisfaction of tourists at that destination is vital. This study modified the information systems (IS) success model to analyze how tourists’ perceived value of a tour and overall satisfaction is affected by the availability of Internet access. Questionnaires were distributed to 457 tourists who had made use of Macau’s ubiquitous Internet access. The IS success model was tested using structural equation modeling. The results revealed that Macau’s current level of Internet availability can positively influence value as perceived by tourists and enhance their satisfaction. The results of this study are expected to help Internet providers and related local tourism groups in Macau. Understanding the relationship between perceived value and overall satisfaction can greatly facilitate the use of these two factors, and could assist stakeholders in understanding that Macau’s Internet infrastructure must be improved for tourists.

With the vigorous development of its gaming industry, Macau has become a very popular tourist destination and many well-known brands in the hospitality industry have entered this highly competitive market. In order to improve service quality and maximise customer satisfaction, it is critical for hotels in this region to clearly understand the true needs of their customers. This study applied the quality function deployment (QFD) method to empirical data collected from 280 Macau customers at three hotels, four Macau hospitality managers, and one academic expert. The resulting customer requirement weights and improvement priorities can be used by hotel administrators to assess their current service offerings and to make adjustments as needed to achieve service quality assurance. Further, the study shows how the QFD method, with some modifications, can be applied more generally by tourism and economic development agencies in creating programs which support improvement priorities across an entire region.

This paper has two research objectives. First, it adopts the Information, Communication, Transaction, Relationship, and Technical Merit model to evaluate Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) web sites from five East Asian countries. Second, it examines the relationship between website complexity and performance. The results indicate that the five selected DMO websites have not fully utilized information technology in their business operations. All five websites have performed reasonably well on the information and communication dimensions. However, three web sites perform poorly in the transaction dimension. Among the five selected countries, the Korean DMO’s website received the highest score for effectiveness, followed by the Japanese, Thai, and Hong Kong websites. The Macau DMO’s website received the lowest score for effectiveness. In addition to evaluating website effectiveness, this study found a linear relationship between website complexity and performance. Also there are significant performance variances among the DMOs’ websites across different countries.

This study classifies banking customers basing on customer's value for businesses through the customer's value diagram (CVD). This diagram divides customers into three levels: premium customers, general customers and static customers. Furthermore, the diagram integrates the performance control matrix (PCM) to selectively propose different service strategies to the customers. The service strategy proposed by businesses should take into consideration resource efficiency. From the matrix, the three strategies adopted are as follows: 1) increasing resource and enhancing quality; 2) maintaining current service quality; 3) decreasing resource and avoiding wastefulness. Through different service strategies, they can satisfy the requirements and enhance the satisfaction from different customers. In addition, the corporation improves services to the customers who contribute highly to the business incomes. Finally, customer's loyalty is strengthened with newly created customer value. The businesses then can manage to optimise resource allocation and to utilise the resource more efficiently through this service strategy.
