Prof. Vitor Vasconcelos is a full professor at the Faculty of Sciences of Porto University and has been the director of CIIMAR (Interdisciplinary Center of Marine and Environmental Research) since 2013. His main research focus is on cyanobacteria secondary metabolites and their uses as toxins and molecules with biotechnological applications. He is the co-director of the M.Sc. course on Environmental Contamination and Toxicology at Porto University. He is the director of the Ph.D. course on Blue Biotechnology and Aquaculture at Porto University. He is an editorial board member of the journals "Marine Drugs" and "Toxins", and a member of the European Marine Board since 2011. He has organized more than 50 activities related to Environmental Education, among which 15 exhibitions, cycles of conferences, courses, field expeditions, workshops, and pedagogical materials.
