The purpose of this paper is to address an urgent operational issue referring to optimal power flow (OPF), which is associated with a number of technical and financial aspects relating to issues of environmental concern. In the last few decades, OPF has become one of the most significant issues in nonlinear optimization research. OPF generally improves the performance of electric power distribution, transmission, and production within the constraints of the control system. It is the purpose of an OPF to determine the most optimal way to run a power system. For the power system, OPFs can be created with a variety of financial and technical objectives. Based on these findings, this paper proposes the peafowl optimization algorithm (POA). A powerful meta-heuristic optimization algorithm inspired by collective foraging activities among peafowl swarms. By balancing local exploitation with worldwide exploration, the OPF is able to strike a balance between exploration and exploitation. In order to solve optimization problems involving OPF, using the standard IEEE 14-bus and 57-bus electrical network, a POA has been employed to find the optimal values of the control variables. Further, there are five study cases, namely, reducing fuel costs, real energy losses, voltage skew, fuel cost as well as reducing energy loss and voltage skew, and reducing fuel costs as well as reducing energy loss and voltage deviation, as well as reducing emissions costs. The use of these cases facilitates a fair and comprehensive evaluation of the superiority and effectiveness of POA in comparison with the coot optimization algorithm (COOT), golden jackal optimization algorithm (GJO), heap-based optimizer (HPO), leader slime mold algorithm (LSMA), reptile search algorithm (RSA), sand cat optimization algorithm (SCSO), and the skills optimization algorithm (SOA). Based on simulations, POA has been demonstrated to outperform its rivals, including COOT, GJO, HPO, LSMA, RSA, SCSO, and SOA. In addition, the results indicate that POA is capable of identifying the most appropriate worldwide solutions. It is also successfully investigating preferred search locations, ensuring a fast convergence speed and enhancing the search engine’s capabilities.

This paper proposes a new Enhanced Dwarf Mongoose Optimization Algorithm (EDMOA) with an alpha-directed Learning Strategy (LS) for dealing with different mathematical benchmarking functions and engineering challenges. The DMOA’s core concept is inspired by the dwarf mongoose’s foraging behavior. The suggested algorithm employs three DM social categories: the alpha group, babysitters, and scouts. The family forages as a team, with the alpha female initiating foraging and determining the foraging course, distance traversed, and sleeping mounds. An enhanced LS is included in the novel proposed algorithm to improve the searching capabilities, and its updating process is partially guided by the updated alpha. In this paper, the proposed EDMOA and DMOA were tested on seven unimodal and six multimodal benchmarking tasks. Additionally, the proposed EDMOA was compared against the traditional DMOA for the CEC 2017 single-objective optimization benchmarks. Moreover, their application validity was conducted for an important engineering optimization problem regarding optimal dispatch of combined power and heat. For all applications, the proposed EDMOA and DMOA were compared to several recent and well-known algorithms. The simulation results show that the suggested DMOA outperforms not only the regular DMOA but also numerous other recent strategies in terms of effectiveness and efficacy.

In this study, acoustic wave scattering in a homogeneous media by an obstacle is examined in the case of plane wave excitation and the formation of acoustic jets is explored. Spectral element method (SEM) is employed for the approximate solution of scattered acoustic waves’ calculations. An important finding of the study is the concurrence of whispering gallery modes and acoustic jet in the case of proper adjustment of structural parameters, which has not been reported before in the literature. Furthermore, numerical findings based on SEM calculations show that the main characteristics of acoustic jet can be explored and controlled by changing the targeted parameters. Microscopy and imaging applications utilizing acoustic wave can benefit from the conducted study presented in this manuscript.

Around 75% of worldwide greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are generated by the combustion of fossil fuels (FFs) for energy production. Tackling climate change requires a global shift away from FF reliance and the decarbonization of energy systems. The energy, manufacturing, and construction sectors contribute a significant portion of Egypt’s total GHG emissions, largely due to the reliance on fossil fuels in energy-intensive industries (EIIs). Decarbonizing these sectors is essential to achieve Egypt’s sustainable development goals, improve air quality, and create a resilient, low-carbon economy. This paper examines practical, scalable solutions to decarbonize energy-intensive industries in Egypt, focusing on implementing renewable energy sources (RESs), enhancing energy efficiency, and integrating new technologies such as carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) and green hydrogen (GH). We also explore the policy incentives and economic drivers that can facilitate these changes, as the government aims to achieve net-zero GHG emissions for a sustainable transition by 2050.

In today’s digital age, there is an increasing demand for integrated wireless and wired technologies; however, there is a difficulty in achieving secure and reliable communications within buildings and facilities. This paper presents a proposal for maintaining the infrastructure while expanding it to implement communication technologies with high transmission and reception speeds and high levels of data confidentiality to enhance the operational efficiency of organizations. Three main technologies have emerged as promising solutions for this purpose: Wi-Fi, Li-Fi, and BPL. Despite the advantages that each technology offers, some drawbacks appear in these technologies that affect data transmission. Wi-Fi, Li-Fi, and BPL can be combined to achieve maximum security and reduce noise and interference via the ESP8266 module. This combination could be an important step toward achieving an integrated and secure indoor communication system. The paper provides a comprehensive overview of the three techniques and how they are applied in practice. In addition, OSE, ABPF, and ASBF filters are used to detect and eliminate interference and attack secure internal networks.

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are an advanced solution for data collection in Internet of Things (IoT) applications and remote and harsh environments. These networks rely on a collection of distributed sensors equipped with wireless communication capabilities to collect low-cost and small-scale data. WSNs face numerous challenges, including network congestion, slow speeds, high energy consumption, and a short network lifetime due to their need for a constant and stable power supply. Therefore, improving the energy efficiency of sensor nodes through solar energy harvesting (SEH) would be the best option for charging batteries to avoid excessive energy consumption and battery replacement. In this context, modern wireless communication technologies, such as Wi-Fi and Li-Fi, emerge as promising solutions. Wi-Fi provides internet connectivity via radio frequencies (RF), making it suitable for use in open environments. Li-Fi, on the other hand, relies on data transmission via light, offering higher speeds and better energy efficiency, making it ideal for indoor applications requiring fast and reliable data transmission. This paper aims to integrate Wi-Fi and Li-Fi technologies into the SEH-WSN architecture to improve performance and efficiency when used in all applications. To achieve reliable, efficient, and high-speed bidirectional communication for multiple devices, the paper utilizes a Markov model, sleep scheduling, and smart switching algorithms to reduce power consumption, increase signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and throughput, and reduce bit error rate (BER) and latency by controlling the technology and power supply used appropriately for the mode, sleep, and active states of nodes.
